A Romantic Life?

[roh-man-tik]: adjective
{Of, pertaining to, or of the nature of romance; characteristic or suggestive of the world of romance; a romantic adventure; fanciful; romantic ideas.
Imbued with or dominated by idealism, a desire for adventure, chivalry, etc.
Characterized by a preoccupation with love or by the idealizing of love or one's beloved. Displaying or expressing love or strong affection. }
I was told recently that I led a romantic life....
Its just my life.... a constant scavenger hunt for the Vintage Life I was supposed to have; the era I escaped from....
But "Leading a Romantic Life" sounds so beautiful and freeing... so I'll take it.
FOR 2012, My Blog will look a little different than it did this year...

The plan is to add more D.I.Y that I have D.I.Done; a weekly blog hop to help connect other diy-ers/Junquers/and Vintage bloggers; and other pages...
Bring it on, 2012!

Dining in Outer Space

Right before Christmas, we went to an amazing craft fair in an old church in the city. (The Baltimore Craft Mafia was on top of it, seriously, the Christmas Craft Fair was a pint sized version of the Renegade Craft Fairs).  Afterwords, we walked a couple blocks to a popular diner...

The Paper Moon Diner

I swear we WERE enjoying ourselves, despite what the pictures are whispering!

Hootie Hoo

I don't own a Menorah....
I felt like I should own one, but I didn't own one.

I like kitsch.... a lot....
I like upcycling and recycling.

SO, let's problem solve.... need a Menorah, make a kitschy one.
Recycled tissue rolls into blue owls... 7 in a row and I have my own version of a kitschy small Menorah

(just as an FYI, traditional Menorahs have 9 candles, not 7; but many modern ones and images of them are not following tradition and only  have 7... though that leaves 2 days that you don't light a candle.....)

Today I had some lovely ladies over for a very casual and simple holiday brunch  and
I am very much digging the teal and white with red right now!
(Thanks, Gretchen, your kitchen has gotten to me:) )

The dress form as you enter the kitchen.... all decked out for the holidays
The main food table (I'm loving the teal feather tree & loving that I got it 50% off at Hobby Lobby--they got your back)

No need to ask me what's in this.... labeled and ready to go
The Hot Plate (Mini Baked Bries...LOVE)
Drinks (The cute bunting under the cupboards is papercupcake cups that I cut and hung)

Really was lovely to have all the ladies just sitting and chatting.  Maybe I have to do another brunch really soon........

Edible Homes

I never did this.

We used to make bread men out of Limpa Brod (that's a Swedish Brown Bread) with raisin eyes...

But I never did this....

Its kinda, pretty much adorable!

Roofs of Necco, Mini Wheats, and Pez!

Of Course.....
Its a lot easier to have a cardboard one from Journey from Junk or Sweet Elizabeth Jane....
Have I mentioned I want to live in those shoppes?

Display Ideas from Main Street

If you don't already know.... I live on Main Street of a historic East Coast town (which, if you do know me, yeah, I love it!).

On the street are several antique stores, shabby chic shops, Vintage inspired home decorating stores, mingled with the resturaunts, coffee shops, clothing boutiques, and the chocolatier.....
One of my favorite stores is
Its so bright and cheery and inspirational.  The owner and apronologists are amazing and kind and fun.  (I understand they're doing phone orders, too!   wink, wink...)

Anyway, the street's shops are lined with amazing window displays for the holidays, and, of course SEJ delivered once again!

Santa's workshop (DIY candy, teal winterhouse, and sheer beauty--- Teal &Red--- too lovely)

Paper Mache MERRY bright red on vintage tobboggans, snowy scene and lit bottle wire trees-- j'adore!

midnight madness 2011-- kinda a big deal

random supermodels stopping to pose  for the camera

I'm pretty much obsessed with monochromatic color schemes.....
Remember what I did in my kitchen?

Blue on Blue on Blue.....

I'm loving that with my gift wrapping, too.

I would show you the gift ideas.... but, clearly, before the gift is given, that's not such a good idea....

Also, I'm feeling pretty proud that I've been done for a week with all the shopping and wrapping. Go me!
